Squedge is a Booble. Brown Boobles are so low in number that they spend most of their time hidden away. They constantly worry about the state of the environment and so it's not unlikely for their brains to droop over their eyes. The only way to stop a Booble worrying is to hug him. Although finding one is a much harder challenge.
